Meena Kumari's Poems in Audio and Video

Meena Kumari News - Meena Kumari's Audio and Video CD - Meena Kumari, Kamal Amrohi's Son Shandaar - Reena Roy's sister Barkha - Who is releasing Audio and Video CDs of Meena Kumari?

Everyone of us knows who Meena Kumari is, but very few of us might be knowing that she was a very good poetess. To showcase her creations Kamal Amrohi's son Shandaar and Reena Roy's sister Barkha are now launching video and audio CDs featuring many poems written by Sadabahaar actress Meena Kumari.

Sources confirmed that many of this poems were written during the phase when she was getting divorced with her husband Kamal Amrohi. Meena Kumari was married to filmmaker Kamal Amrohi and they started to develop strong differences, both professionally and in their married life. This led to their separation in 1960, and ultimately they got divorced in 1964. The divorce had emotionally broken the actress. And eventually this charming woman was engulfed by depression and took to heavy drinking habbits. The couple remarried, but by then Meena Kumari had become an alcoholic. Her sorrow drove her to write poetry.

One of her poems clearly shows her solace for husband Kamal - "Tum kya karoge sunkar mujhse meri kahani, Beluft zindagi ke kisse hain pheeke pheeke" (Why do you want to listen to my story, colourless tales of a joyless life?).

A very touchy line was penned by her at the time of her divorce, - "Talaak to de rahe ho Nazar-e-kahar ke saath, Jawani bhi mere lauta do Mehar ke saath" (You are divorcing me with rage in your eyes. Return me, my youth along with the dowry).

When contacted, Barkha told Mumbai Mirror, "I am not only producing the video but also co-directing it with Raoul V Randolf." Randolf co-wrote the screenplay of Ashutosh Gowariker's Abhishek-Deepika starrer Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey.

Barkha is not only producing the video but she is also co-directing it with Raoul V Randolf who has co-written the screenplay of Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey. Shandaar and Sunidhi Chauhan will lend their voices to Meena Kumari's poems. But Barkha has not finalized any models to act in the produced video.

Shandaar was 27 when Meena Kumari passed away and he was very fond of Meenaji. Further Shandaar told that he has kept all her poems safely and it's time that he will bring them out so that everyone has access to it.

As confirmed by both Barkha and Shandaar, the video and audio CDs are expected to hit markets by September 2011.

We are eagerly waiting to recreate magic of marvelous actress Meena Kumariji.
